Shark WARNING for Secret Harbour Beach, north of Mandurah

Surf Life Saving WA Life Savers have reopened Secret Harbour Beach, following a reported shark interaction on 22 March.

Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development recommend additional caution in the Secret Harbour Beach area.

 If you see a shark, report it to Water Police on 9442 8600.

Alert issued on 22 March 2025

Alert level:

A shark WARNING has been issued for Secret Harbour Beach, Secret Harbour in the City of Rockingham after a reported shark interaction.

Situation:

  • The shark interaction was reported by a member of the public at approximately 10.23 am on 22 March.
  • A reported unknown size and species shark has bumped the board of a surfer approximately 40m from shore. This is being investigated by Surf Life Saving WA (SLSWA).
  • To reduce the threat to people, Secret Harbour Beach has now been closed by SLSWA Life Savers. 

What to do:

  • Take additional caution in the Secret Harbour Beach area.
  • Adhere to beach closures advised by Local Government Rangers, Parks and Wildlife Service officers or Surf Life Saving WA (SLSWA).
  • Use your Sea Sense and stay informed by checking for shark activity on the SharkSmart website, SharkSmart WA app or follow @SLSWA on X (formerly Twitter).
  • If you see a shark, report it to Water Police on 9442 8600. All shark sighting information reported to Water Police is provided to land managers and relevant authorities and to the public on the SharkSmart website, SharkSmart WA app and @SLSWA on X. 

What authorities are doing: 

Officers from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD), along with staff from other agencies are monitoring the situation.
