Shark INCIDENT at Trigg Beach
15 December 2016The Department of Fisheries has been advised of a shark incident at an area near the Blue Holes, Trigg Beach.
Situation:
- On 14 December 2016, between 9 - 9.30am a man who was free diving at the time received minor injuries to his left ankle after being bitten by what he believes was a small shark. He was not able to identify size or species. This incident was reported to Water Police at 11.30 on 15 December.
What to do:
- Take additional caution in the Blue Holes area at Trigg Beach.
- Keep informed of the latest detection and sighting information by checking the SharkSmart website or Surf Life Saving WA’s Twitter feed.
- If you see a shark, report it to Water Police on 9442 8600. All shark sighting information reported to Water Police is provided to response agencies and to the public on the SharkSmart website and Surf Life Saving WA Twitter feed.
What authorities are doing:
The Department of Fisheries is monitoring any further sightings in the area.
