Shark INCIDENT at Pyramids Beach, south of Mandurah

Following yesterday’s reported shark incident, City of Mandurah have reopened Pyramids Beach.
DPIRD recommends additional caution in the Pyramids Beach area.

If you see a shark, report it to Water Police on 9442 8600.

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is currently coordinating the response for a shark incident at Pyramids Beach, south of Mandurah.
Situation:
- A male surfer was bitten by a reported two metre unknown species shark at 5:40 am.
- The incident was reported to DPIRD at approximately 6:43 am.
- Rangers from the City of Mandurah have closed Pyramids Beach to 1 km either side.
What to do:
- Take additional caution in the Pyramids Beach area.
- Adhere to beach closures advised by Local Government Rangers, Parks and Wildlife Service officers or Surf Life Saving WA (SLSWA).
- Use your Sea Sense and stay informed by checking for shark activity on the SharkSmart website, SharkSmart WA app or follow @SLSWA on X (formerly Twitter).
- If you see a shark, report it to Water Police on 9442 8600. All shark sighting information reported to Water Police is provided to land managers and relevant authorities and to the public on the SharkSmart website, SharkSmart WA app and @SLSWA on X.
