A shark ADVICE has been issued due to a whale carcass being reported on the Nanga Peninsula, inside of the Hamelin Pool Marine Nature Reserve in Shark Bay.

Update 17 May:

Department of Parks and Wildlife has advised the carcass has now been removed, and signs will be removed at 2pm today.

Even though the carcass has been removed, as it could have been attracting sharks close to shore in the area since Friday, Department of Fisheries advise continued caution for water users in the area over the next few days.   

Alert level (issued 12 May):
A shark ADVICE has been issued due to a whale carcass being reported washed onto rocks, north of the Canal Rocks Boat Ramp, south of Yallingup.

Fisheries advise that the Ocean Reef Shark Monitoring Network satellite-linked receiver is back on line. The network is now fully operational.

Department of Fisheries officers are currently involved in assisting WA Police following a fatal shark bite incident at Kelp Beds surf break in Wylie Bay, near Esperance.

A shark WARNING has been issued for the area between Cape Hamelin and Eagle Bay in the South West after an increased number of reported shark sightings.

A shark WARNING has been issued for Middleton Beach in the City of Albany after an increased number of tagged shark detections.

A shark WARNING has been issued for Mauds Point, near Coral Bay after an interaction with a shark was reported. The incident occurred on Saturday 25 February and was reported to authorities on Monday 27 February.
