Update on 11th December 2020 at 3:00pm

Fisheries officers from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) will now resume routine operational patrols within the Cable Beach area on Saturday 12th December.  

DPIRD recommends additional caution at Cable Beach and the surrounding area.

If you see a shark, report it to Water Police on 9442 8600.

Alert level:

A shark WARNING has been issued for the Meelup Beach area after an increased number of tagged shark detections.

Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) are currently investigating a possible shark bite incident at Cable Beach in the Broome.

Update on 04/11/2020 at 5:20PM:  

The system outage for the Shark Monitoring Network has now been resolved and receivers are back on line. The Shark Notification System is fully operational again.

Update on 26 October at 10:57am

System testing of the shark monitoring receivers at Bunker Bay has confirmed that the technical fault has been resolved.

DPIRD has been manually monitoring the receivers and there has been no missed detections over the weekend.

The Shark Monitoring Network is now fully operational.

DPIRD fisheries officers will now resume routine operational patrols within the Esperance area.  

DPIRD recommends additional caution in Wylie Bay and the surrounding area.

The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) have reopened beaches from Mildura Wreck (Northwest Cape) to Mauritius Beach.
