Shark WARNING for Florida Beach near Mandurah

Update on 7 March at 9:22am

Rangers from the City of Mandurah have reopened beaches in the Florida Beach area, following a reported shark interaction on Sunday 6 March.

Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) recommend additional caution in the Florida Beach area.

Shark ADVICE for Albany Waterfront Marina in City of Albany

Update on 28 February 2022 at 2:17pm

DPIRD (Fisheries) have been advised that the dolphin carcass at Albany Waterfront Marina has now been removed.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from the carcass may still attract sharks to the area.

Shark ADVICE for Goode Beach near Albany

Update on 7 February at 11:40am

Rangers from the City of Albany have inspected the whale carcass at Goode Beach, near Albany. Carcass remnants, including blubber remain in place on the beach. 

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development as the slowly decomposing whale carcass may attract sharks to the area.

The system outage for the Shark Monitoring Network, resumed operations at 3:00am today. The Shark Monitoring Network is now operational, however the Busselton and 1.5km Scarborough satellite-linked receivers remain off-line.
