Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) are currently investigating a reported shark bite incident.

Services have been restored to the Ocean Reef Shark Monitoring Network receiver.
The Ocean Reef receiver has been upgraded from a satellite-linked receiver to the new generation digital network. The receiver has also been repositioned approximately 700 metres south of its original location to increase beach safety.

Alert level:
A shark WARNING has been issued after an increased number of tagged shark detections along the metropolitan and South West coast.

Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) advise that services have been restored to the SharkSmart WA app and website.
During the outage period, there was one white shark detected at the Bunker Bay (west) shark monitoring receiver at 09:58am. This detection information was posted to @SLSWA Twitter and provided to relevant land managers via text message. The Bunker Bay Shark Warning System was automatically activated upon detection of the shark, notifying beach users. This information is now available on the SharkSmart WA app and website.

The City of Albany have removed warning signs from Goode Beach, near Mistaken Island, Albany.
Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) recommends additional caution in the waters near Mistaken Island and the surrounding area.

Staff from the Shire of Harvey have inspected the area near The Weed Banks surfing spot, Binningup and have advised that the turtle carcass is no longer in place.
Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the turtle carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

Parks and Wildlife Service officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions have advised the whale carcass that was located at Turtle Bay in Abrolhos Islands is no longer on the beach.
Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.
