Shark INCIDENT at Wharton Beach, Cape Le Grand National Park

Update on 12 March 2025 at 3:35 pm

Following Monday’s reported shark incident, the Shire of Esperance have reopened Wharton Beach, Cape Le Grand National Park. 

DPIRD recommends additional caution in the Wharton Beach area.

Shark ADVICE for Greys Beach in Geraldton

Update on 17 February at 9:45 am

Officers from the City of Greater Geraldton have now removed the whale carcass from Greys Beach and the beach has been reopened.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from the whale carcass may still attract sharks to the area.

Shark ADVICE for Yawuru Nagulagun / Roebuck Bay Marine Park, Broome

Parks and Wildlife Service officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) have advised that the whale carcasses located at Fall Point Beach and Crab Creek Beach are no longer in place.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.
