The system outage for the Mullaloo South Shark Monitoring Network has now been resolved and receiver is back online.  The network is now fully operational.

Alert level:

A shark WARNING has been issued for Mangles Bay in Rockingham in the City of Rockingham after a reported shark interaction.

Parks and Wildlife Service officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions and Rangers from the City of Busselton have now removed the whale carcass from Quindalup Boat Ramp. 

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

Update on 25 April at 5:45pm:

Parks and Wildlife Service officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions and City of Busselton Rangers have completed the incident response regarding the mass whale stranding incident at Toby’s Inlet, near Dunsborough. This includes the removal of whale carcasses from the beach. 

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the whale carcasses were beached may attract sharks to the area.

Update on 21 April at 8:38 am

Parks and Wildlife Service officers have reopened Hamelin Bay Beach following the removal of the whale carcass yesterday morning.

Additional caution is recommended by DPIRD in the Hamelin Bay area, as any residue from where the whale carcass was present may still attract sharks to the area.

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is currently coordinating the response for a shark incident at The Bombie Surfing Spot near Exmouth.
