Shark ADVICE for Smiths Beach south of Yallingup

Update on 4 September at 5:00 pm:

Officers from the City of Busselton have now removed the whale carcass from Smiths Beach and the beach has been reopened. 

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

The City of Karratha have reopened 40 Mile Beach following the removal of the whale carcass.

Additional caution is recommended by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, as any residue from where the whale carcass was beached may still attract sharks to the area.

Shark ADVICE for the WA Shark Monitoring Network - Perth Metropolitan area

Update on 9 August at 11:45 am

Scheduled maintenance of the Shark Monitoring Network receivers at Cottesloe, Leighton and Port Beach has now been completed. These receivers are fully operational.

The receivers located at 3.5 km off Trigg, Sorrento, Swanbourne and Garden Island remain offline and require further onsite maintenance to restore service to these receivers.
